link is to an op-ed piece by Robert Samuelson. He frequently writes economic columns for Newsweek. I don't agree with all his policy ideas but some I like alot. Especially the ones dealing with gas (but not the CAFE standards). The deeper we get into economics the more of his ideas you will understand. He is a brilliant mind - which means he'd never stand a chance in public office.
What do you think if his ideas?

i would have to agree with his package of proposals it will help our country out in many different ways. And i have to agree when something goes wrong with our economy everyone likes to have a scapegoat and blame the scapegoats just so the finger wont be pointed at themselves and they have to deal with it and take the blame for their mistake.

As a teenage worker, getting paid little more than minimum wage, I was a first all for an increase in wages, but reading this article has aroused a rather rude awakening in me. Many jobs will be lost due to this increase and will most likely become just another part of a higher authority's responsibility...I also agree with his package proposals, many of those would help to decrease our dependency on other weaker countries and help us to move forward and advance.

many of these proposals would help the debt of america to decrease. another way though to get rid of the debt is to legalize marijuana and tax it, i mean its not like nobody doesnt smoke it and wouldnt buy it. i imagine it would take less time to wipe out the debt. even though increasing minimum wage would create job loss, a single person who has no kids or spouse cant live adequaetly on min. wage, on average it takes at least $1000 a month to live, thats $12000 a year, however what min. wage is now u only get $11000 a year, if that.

I am annoyed at the price of mininum wage being increased just to buy votes from uneducated and ignorant voters. The notion that the pay increase will end up stabbing us in the back money wise not only on the middle man, but the economy as well really ticks me off. But what are we "the educated" to do about it, because we will just seem unfeeling to those who think we are just not caring towards their own needs?

His package is harsh and is largely in contradiction when it comes to appeasing the public, but the goal is for the greater good. The propsals will reach this goal without hurting us to bad.- It's really just stating a harsh reality. The people will have to take responsibility for things at some point.
